STORY: Alfred, later known as Andre, struggled throughout his life with illness and learning difficulties. This made it hard for him to keep a job, and even hard to join a monastery. He eventually became Holy Cross brother, but was assigned the job of porter (answering the door). A deeply spiritual man, he helped all those he met and many who came to him with an illness were cured. Devoted to St. Joseph, he collected nickels and dimes to build a church in his honor; little by little it came together and is now a Basilica in Montreal.
