STORY: St. Anthony of Padua was born into a wealthy family in Portugal. After studying at a monastery, he became a priest and later joined the Franciscans. His preaching became so well known that St. Francis of Assisi’s asked him to be in charge of the Franciscan’s formation. He also taught in universities and continued to be famous for his preaching. It is said that the Christ child appeared to him. He was declared a Doctor of the Church by Pope Pius XII.
