STORY: Saint Augustine was the son of Saint Monica, born in Africa. He fell away from the faith, but after years of prayer and guidance from his mother and Saint Ambrose, he embraced Christianity. He became a bishop and famous Catholic writer. He is a “father” and “doctor” of the Church, meaning he was instrumental in the founding of the Church and the development of doctrine.
