
STORY: Saint Hedwig was a duchess is the Bavarian region of Germany. She is the aunt of St. Elizabeth of Hungary. She was happily married to the Duke of Silesia, in what is now Poland. They opened monasteries and built hospitals together and did much good for the people of the area. After his death she joined a convent.
